On July 22, 2007, 51 King of Kings members
traveled to New Orleans to assist with hurricane rebuilding efforts.
While in New Orleans they stayed at a camp,
sponsored by Lutheran Disaster Response and were assigned different job sites
all throughout the city. They participated in all forms of the rebuilding
efforts, from guttinghouses to putting up drywall.
The group came back excited and willing to
tell their story and spread the news about this city that will take 8 to
10 years to restore.
An Ice Cream Social is planned for
Sunday, September 30th from 4:30-6:30. We will present a picture
slide show, share stories and serve ice cream in hopes of sharing our experiences
with the congregation. A sign up poster will be in the narthex.
Also, September 30th
through October 21st, the participants will also share mission moments at
all services. We will end with a service of celebration to coincide with Stewardship
Sunday on October 21st.
