Mission
Trip
New Orleans, July 2007
11 men
13 women
20 young ladies
7 young men
traveled 2800 miles over 4 days to and from New Orleans
using over 1100 gallons of gas.
Two nights of sleeping on floors and 5 nights on bunk beds.
We worked at 7 homes,
also daily cleaning at the camp
and the breakdown and relocation of Camp Atonement.
Over 200 bag lunches were prepared for us each work day.
Over 1200 bottles of water were consumed while we worked.
At camp we had 5 showers for all of us to share.
Bathrooms were another story-6 at camp.
At some of our work sites, there were none, so we had to find one
wherever we could.
We worked an average of 35 hours per person with a total of 1785
hours for the group.
This will earn over $31,000 that will be credited back to the state
of Louisiana.
Our work projects included countless nails removed, drywall taken
down,
debris carried to the street, belongings sorted through, painting,
cabinet handles installed, some finish work, drywall hung and spackling
applied.
Through all this, we realized that there is still so much to do.
Our work there was like a drop in the ocean, as to what needs to
be done.
We were told 8-10 years of rebuilding.
Our memories will be in our hearts forever.
We brought home so much more than we gave.
