Faith Formation Director
Reports to: Pastor
Status: Part Time/25 hours per week
FLSA: Exempt
The Director of Faith Formation at King of Kings Lutheran Church will direct and supervise Christian education programs across all ages of our membership.
Essential Functions:
- Be present on site for Sunday worship and education time frames, currently 8:30am – 12:30pm, but subject to change, at least 3 out of 4 weeks.
- Maintain records related to Sunday school, confirmation, and other youth activities.
- Design and implement faith formation programming in consultation with the Pastor
- Coordinate and teach Sunday School and Confirmation class in collaboration with the Pastor and congregation volunteers
- Provide resources and guidance for adult faith formation gatherings and courses
- Promote and manage volunteer activities within the congregation, including the fostering of self-identified skills and interests of members to carry on their ministry as Christians.
- Provide a monthly report to the congregational council, and attend meetings as requested.
- Position will occasionally require offsite event participation for education or social reasons.
- Attend weekly staff meetings
Minimum Qualifications:
- Be a practicing Christian enrolled in either a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) or in one of the ELCA’s full communion partners
- Associates Degree, but a Bachelor of Arts or Science is preferred, awarded by a recognized college or university
- Prior experience in Faith Formation and Youth/Family ministries or equivalent experience
- Three letters of reference attesting to skills in teaching and administration
- Background check and documented completion of child safety training, both at the expense of King of Kings

Compensation:
- $32,500 annually, paid semi-monthly
- This is based on a rate of $25 per hour, not to exceed an average of 25 hours per week.
- $1,200 annual travel compensation
- Fifty (50) hours of vacation, afforded at the start of each new year. A new employee can begin using vacation time after 90 days of employment. Scheduling of vacation allowed on up to four (4) Sundays. Vacation must be used within the calendar year granted (no roll-over).
- Federal holidays will be compensated as 5-hour work days (New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day).
- Administrative work for this position may be completed remotely at the discretion of the Pastor.
